He also showed conclusively that cancer loves sugar. Subsequently, the more sugar you consume, the greater risk you have of developing cancerous tumors at some point in your life. In addition to feeding the cancer, sugar lowers the pH level of the blood and creates an environment that is ideal for the cancer to grow and thrive.

I recommend to my clients to purchase pH strips from the drug store and take some saliva tests. Your ideal pH is between 7.35 to 7.45. Any lower, and your increasing your risk for cancer. Drink plenty of distilled water with dash of sea salt. The sodium raises the pH level to slightly alkaline. If your pH is really low (say below 6.0), then I recommend taking a teaspoonful of baking soda in 8 oz. of lemon water, three times daily until your saliva becomes alkaline.

In addition, make sure you eat plenty of raw and steamed vegetables every day. Stop eating so much sugar and starch. Starchy foods, such as corn, beans, rice, soy, and grains, always turn to sugar (glucose) in the body. Replace your cereals and breads with nutrient-rich, fibrous vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, kale, cucumbers, and peppers, which are all loaded with much needed vitamins, anti-oxidants and are very alkaline forming in the body. Eat as much of them as you like! Not only will you lose those excess pounds, as your body’s pH rises, the fungi, candida, and cancer risks dissolve. You will begin sleeping more soundly and will have abundant energy throughout the day. It’s just that simple.

Corn syrup, honey, and evaporated cane juice are still sugar, and therefore acidifying. Also, whether its sucrose, fructose, or lactose, it’s still sugar and therefore acidifying. All artificial sweeteners, especially aspartame, are extremely acidifying, even more so than sugar and should be avoided completely. The sugar substitute that I use is Stevia. It is a plant-based, all natural substitute that is also calorie-free. It’s alkaline-forming and you can cook with it.

In the early 20th century, the German physician, Dr. Otto H. He also discovered that cancer cells are anaerobic (do not breathe oxygen) and cannot survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen, as found in an alkaline state. It’s important to note here that the words toxic and acidic are interchangeable.

The ideal pH level for the venous blood is 7.36 and if the body maintains this level, cancer cells simply cannot grow according to Dr. Leonard Coldwell, a holistic physician who is called by many authorities the world’s leading expert on cancer. The average American is consuming about one-third of a pound of sugar every day. Many experts on nutrition and holistic medicine today are coming to realize the importance of healthy fats in our diet. The disturbing thing is — the nutritional advice we are given regarding (the elimination of) fat in our diet has not been corroborated by any evidence to support it. L.A. Corr and M.F. Oliver, in their book, “The Low Fat/Low Cholesterol Diet is Ineffective,” write, “The commonly held belief that the best diet for prevention of coronary heart disease is a low saturated fat, low cholesterol diet is not supported by the available evidence from clinical trials.”

A diet consisting of saturated, monounsaturated and essential polyunsaturated fats such as omega-3 has been sustained by our paleo ancestors since the dawn our species. It has only been since the advent of industrialization and better refining processes that highly polyunsaturated vegetable oils, grain-fed (rather than grass-fed) meats, farmed seafoods (rather than wild), and partially hydrogenated oils have become our primary fat sources. I don’t believe that it’s just a coincidence that our species has not seen the levels of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, or cancer that we see today. It is estimated that 1,529,560 people around the world died from cancer in 2010. That’s 4200 people dying per day. And the mortality rates continue to rise.

Americans spend 17% of our GDP on healthcare. That’s roughly double what other countries spend. So, if we’re spending $1.2 Trillion a year, why are we dying in droves? I believe that it all stems from our diet. As a society, we are addicted to sugar. And all processed foods are mostly sugar because they contain HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). It’s not a coincidence that cancer thrives on sugar. And sugar makes your body more acidic so that cancer can flourish more effortlessly.

Ketones are energy units of fat that the brain requires for optimum function and health. The diet of our paleo ancestors depended on them for fuel. By shifting our dependency from sugar to ketones, we will be returning to the way our body’s were meant to metabolize foods. Returning to the paleo diet is the only way to reverse the dramatic increase of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. There is no magic pill coming, no instant cure to be found, despite the billions of dollars a year given to disease research. That’s all a waste of money, time, and energy. It all begins with the knowledge of our genetics, physiology and the nutrient-dense, sugar-free diet that the human body was designed to follow.
